About Us

We are Lesia Coaxum and Levette Morris, the daughters of our beloved Shero, Valeria Coaxum-Parker. The inception of our non-profit organization, Pain To Triumph, was inspired by our mother. On October 17, 2019, she earned her wings after battling Metastatic Breast Cancer. Before her passing, we asked our mother if she would be willing to proudly display the physical scars she had acquired throughout her courageous journey. She had undergone a double mastectomy, only to face the return of cancer in her bones three years later, necessitating the placement of a rod in her arm. Her intention was clear: she wanted to convey that it's perfectly acceptable to reveal one's scars, both physical and emotional. Her mission was to empower, inspire, and unite all women, specifically African American women, encouraging them to support each other. Our mother had a heart of service, consistently prioritizing the needs of others. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit continues to live through us, and we made a solemn pledge to carry on what she began. Like her, these women are beautiful, scars and all.

Our mission is to show different faces of African American Women who are surviving and fighting breast cancer through their scars. Our mission is to show that this is just a chapter in your life and this does not have to define you. Our hope is by showing their scars it brings awareness to the African American community, to openly start conversations that say “it’s okay”, to talk about their journey. We are hoping it provides support to those who are afraid and don’t want to talk about women’s health issues. Our mission is for you to know that you do not have to look, how you feel.

Community Outreach

Pain To Triumph Non Profit gives back to the community in many different ways. We raise money to donate to people who are going through treatment as a way to help lift a small burden. That maybe in a form of a co-payment for a doctor’s appointment, groceries or a small bill while currently undergoing treatment. Additionally, our goal and hope is to give assistance to breast cancer organizations that are constantly looking for a cure for this disease.
